Al-Nahrain Center participates in a scientific seminar on climate change and its impact on Iraq’s weather

Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies participated in the scientific seminar titled “Climate Change and Weather in Iraq,” held at Bayt Al-Hikma, which was dedicated to discussing the most prominent climate transformations and their reflections on the environmental and water situation in the country.

The seminar was chaired by Professor Jawad Al-Khikhani, Head of the Energy, Water, and Environment Department, with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists in the field of climate change. The discussions addressed the most prominent climate variables and their direct impact on the nature of weather in Iraq.

The seminar also witnessed a scientific presentation on recent rainfall rates and the impact of low-pressure systems in enhancing water storage, in addition to discussing mechanisms for benefiting from the current water abundance in a way that contributes to supporting water security during the summer season.

Participants also discussed the importance of preparing a sustainable strategy to preserve water reserves, ensuring their effective investment in facing the challenges of drought and future climate changes.
