Al-Nahrain Center hosts a dialogue session to discuss the draft Law on the Protection of Minorities and Prevention of Discrimination

Within the framework of its role in supporting societal stability and consolidating the principles of equal citizenship, the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, in cooperation with the International Union for Media and Human Rights, hosted the second dialogue session dedicated to discussing the draft law on regulating the protection of minority rights and preventing discrimination.
The seminar witnessed the attendance of a number of members of the Council of Representatives, in addition to Sheikh Saddam Zamil Al-Atwani, Advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister for the Committee on Peaceful Coexistence, Social Peace, and Affected Areas, as well as representatives of Iraqi religions and components and civil society organizations.
The discussions focused on the legal and human rights aspects related to the protection of minorities and the guarantee of their rights, in line with the Iraqi Constitution and international human rights conventions. The Al-Nahrain Center emphasized the importance of formulating national legislation that promotes social peace, prevents forms of discrimination, and contributes to the protection of religious and cultural diversity in Iraq as one of the pillars of stability.
