Al-Nahrain Center Discusses Water Scarcity and Rationalization of Water Consumption

Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies / Department of Energy, Water, and Environment hosted the Women’s Advisory Team Supporting Local Governments in a specialized dialogue session to discuss the water scarcity and consumption rationalization policy paper in Iraq, within the framework of the Decision-Makers Support Project, with the participation of members of parliament, government officials, and specialized experts.
The session addressed the most prominent challenges related to the water sector, ways to enhance institutional coordination, promote community awareness, and activate the role of research centers. It also presented practical proposals, including awareness campaigns, integrating rationalization concepts into educational curricula, encouraging modern technologies, and recycling wastewater.
Participants emphasized that the water crisis in Iraq requires integrated legislative and administrative solutions, as well as an effective partnership between government institutions and civil society to ensure water security and sustainability in light of climate change.
