Al-Nahrain Center and Bayt Al-Hikma Organize an Awareness Workshop on Electronic Blackmail

Within the framework of the activities of the 16 Days Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, in cooperation with Bayt Al-Hikma, organized a scientific awareness workshop addressing the phenomenon of electronic blackmail and its social and psychological repercussions, with the participation of a number of academics, researchers, and specialists.

The workshop included a lecture delivered by Engineer Yasser Karim Nasser from the Artificial Intelligence Division at the Al-Nahrain Center, during which he reviewed the concept of electronic blackmail, its main types and modern methods, as well as the digital tools used in such crimes, and their psychological and social impacts on victims, particularly women.

The workshop also discussed mechanisms of prevention and digital protection, and ways to maintain information security and personal data protection, emphasizing the importance of raising societal awareness about the risks of cybercrimes and strengthening cooperation between academic and research institutions to confront these escalating phenomena.

The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the attendees through interventions and discussions, which stressed the necessity of enhancing digital culture and supporting legal frameworks and procedures capable of protecting society from various forms of electronic blackmail.
