Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies participated in the proceedings of the Migration and Diplomacy Summit, organized by the Migration and Communities Endowment in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on the occasion of the International Migrants Day. The summit served as an important intellectual and dialogue platform to discuss migration issues and their implications for public policies, public diplomacy, and international relations, in light of the rapidly evolving regional and international transformations.

The Center’s participation came in line with its research and strategic interest in migration-related files, integration, social stability, and decision-making. The summit witnessed the attendance of high-level official and academic figures, alongside representatives of ministries, research institutions, and regional and international think tanks, which enabled in-depth discussions on the relationship between migration and national security, and its impact on policy-making and the formulation of public orientations.

The summit’s program included a number of dialogue sessions and specialized seminars, most notably the session titled “The Impact of Migrant Communities on Policy-Makers,” which discussed the roles of migrants in influencing decision-making mechanisms, shaping public opinion, and informal diplomacy. It also reviewed the challenges associated with migration management and ways to develop sustainable policies that balance humanitarian requirements with national interests, in a manner that enhances stability and social cohesion in the medium and long term.
