Al-Nahrain Center Discusses in a Specialized Workshop the Impact of Climate Change on Groundwater: Challenges and Solutions

The Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies / Energy, Water, and Environment Department held a specialized workshop titled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Groundwater: Between Challenges and Solutions”, in cooperation with the General Commission for Groundwater – Ministry of Water Resources, and with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers and specialists in environmental and water resources affairs from the relevant sectoral ministries and the provinces where groundwater constitutes a fundamental part of water use.

The workshop addressed the most prominent issues facing groundwater amid the worsening effects of climate change, including the decline in natural recharge rates, the deterioration of water quality, and the increasing pressures on groundwater aquifers. The workshop also presented a set of scientific and practical solutions, such as improving water resources management.
