Al-Nahrain Center and the Federal Public Service Council Hold a Research Workshop to Curb the Phenomenon of Begging

The Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, through the Department of Social Studies and in cooperation with the Federal Public Service Council, held today a specialized research workshop that addressed the phenomenon of begging and its social, security, and economic dimensions, with the attendance of a group of researchers, experts, and representatives of the relevant government bodies.

The workshop aimed to discuss the reasons behind the spread of the begging phenomenon in Iraq and to examine its repercussions on community security, in addition to presenting visions and practical solutions to reduce it through effective policies and alternative developmental programs. The workshop also included the presentation of several recent studies and statistics, as well as interventions that focused on the role of government institutions in developing preventive plans and addressing challenges related to poverty and unemployment.
